520 |a In this Presidential finding, President Reagan supports exporting Alaska North Slope natural gas to countries other than Canada and Mexico. In order for such exports to occur, the president must find that exportation will not diminish domestic supply through assessing the relationship of Alaska natural gas to the U.S. Energy market. This is a requirement of the Alaska Natural Gas Transportation Act of 1976, Section 12. Reagan believes an adequate supply can meet the U.S. demand. Reagan believes his finding will not hinder the Alaska Natural Gas Transportation System (ANGTS), and affirms support of the Prebuild protion of ANGTS. His finding is to be announced in the Federal Register.
