Description
Summary:The paper is a history of the Alliance Pipeline that was completed in December 2000. This natural gas pipeline carries western Canada natural gas from northeastern British Columbia to Chicago, Illinois. It was one of the longest and most expensive pipelines built. Enbridge Inc. and Veresen Inc. are the two 50% holding companies. Deregulation in Canada on October 31, 1985 became a factor. It was initially hoped that this pipeline would carry Alaska North Slope gas. TransCanada and NOVA opposed the pipeline proposal and suffered from the new competition.
