520 | |a This newsletter concerns the environmental impact statement for the proposed natural gas pipeline that would run from Fairbanks to Beluga through Glennallen. The Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority (ANGDA) plans to construct a bi-directional natural gas pipeline connecting the Beluga gas field to Interior Alaska. Natural gas can be used as an alternative to fuel oil to decrease the cost of electricity in Fairbanks and the Interior. This 460-mile small-diameter gas pipeline would be the first phase of an in-state gas distribution system. URS Corporation is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractor for this environmental impact statement. | ||
