Description
Summary:The aquatic habitats in the Susitna River, Alaska, were studied as part of the planning of the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project. The goal of this study is to characterize and map all aquatic habitats in the river with the potential to be altered and/or lost as the result of reservoir filling, hydropower operations, and associated changes in water flow and other properties. The study are encompasses the Susitna River from the upper extent of tidal influence upstream to the Oshetna River confluence at project river mile 235.1. Two appendices comprise 110 color maps showing macrohabitats and mesohabitats by type and instream flow focus areas for the river and lower portions of its tributaries in the middle and upper river reaches (between project river miles 102 (Chulitna River confluence) to 235.1). This document discusses the methods and results of Study 9.9 from the beginning in 2012 through 2014, and describes how all study objectives have been met. This report concludes Study 9.9.
