| Summary: | Alaska Gasline Development Corp. (AGDC) has asked federal regulators to speed up the environmental review of the state-sponsored Alaska LNG Project. AGDC has responded in full or in part to many of the detailed questions from federal regulators. The state wrote to FERC that an EIS schedule is important for the market. Review by FERC could be speeded up by relying on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' environmental analysis for a smaller, similar proposed gas pipeline project--the state-sponsored Alaska Stand-Alone Pipeline, particularly as wetlands mitigation processes would apply similarly to both projects. The state noted that FERC's wetland procedures are impacticable for the Alaska LNG Project. AGDC reminded FERC of President Donald Trump's Executive Order 13807 of Aug. 15, 2017, on efficient and effective infrastructure decisions. Previously in February, Governor Bill Walker wrote to the president on related concerns such as exempting the Alaska LNG Project from all federal wetlands mitigation requirements of the Clean Water Act. |
