%0 Report %G English %T An ornithological study of alternate gas pipeline routes in Alaska, Yukon Territory and the Northwest Territories %U https://www.arlis.org/docs/vol1/AlaskaGas/Report4/Report_LGL_1971_OrnithologicalStudy.pdf %X This ornithological study was conducted in the summer of 1971. It comprises of surveys along proposed gas pipeline routes between Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and Emerson, Manitoba. Due to practical constraints, the work was concentrated along two routes--the Inshore Route and the Mountain Route--between Prudhoe Bay and Arctic Red River (located just south of the Mackenzie River delta). The Inshore Route runs from Prudhoe Bay and follows the Beaufort Sea coast to the delta, then south to the Arctic Red River. The Mountain Route runs from the bay, along the Canning River, through the Brooks Range, and north of the Porcupine River to a point south of Arctic Red River. Although this is a study on birds, mammal observations are included and effects on mammals are discussed.
