| Summary: | The Federal Inspector was denied admission to an Economic Policy Council meeting. In this letter to Nancy Risque staff he asks for reconsideration of this decision and to be included on circulation lists of papers related to Alaska natural gas. The Economic Policy Council is discussing the export of Alaskan natural gas to the East Asia by the Trans-Alaska Gas System. This action requires presidential approval. He notes that his position was created to supervise and coordinate such activities. He warns such approval would generate concerns that the U.S. is retreating from its commitment to the Alaska Natural Gas Transportation System (ANGTS). This would complicate discussions between the U.S. and Canada over construction of the southern portion of ANGTS and raise concerns whether the gas reserves could supply both domestic and foreign consumption. |
