| Summary: | A study of existing aquatic habitats in the Susitna River watershed is being conducted as part of the planning of the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project. The goal is to provide quantitative indices of existing aquatic habitats that enable a determination of the effects of alternative Project operational scenarios. FERC issued a Study Plan determination on April 1, 2013 to modify the study for additional analysis between fish abundance and microhabitat variables that had not bee planned previously. This memorandum addresses FERC's request, discusses the relevancy of eight microhabitat variables in the context of instream flow modeling, describes the data subset that is synoptic with fish presence or abundance measurements, and discusses results and recommendations on whether to include any variables in future habitat suitability criteria curve development. |
