This collection is available by reservation only.  Please call 27-ARLIS or e-mail fms@arlis.org 1-5 days in advance to select items.  Please make a pre-arranged appointment to check items out and to return items.  ARLIS can no longer provide same-day service due to staffing constraints, but we are happy to help with making these available to users.

ARLIS - Furs, Skulls, Birds and Fish Mounts

Furs, Mounts, and Skulls are made available at ARLIS by the Alaska Dept. of Fish & Game, Division of Wildlife Conservation, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and private donors. Most items may be checked out from ARLIS for a 2-week period and may be renewed once for an additional two weeks. An inventory is available for download.

Also available for download is a 34-page guide for the circulating bird and fish mounts. For each specimen, the guide includes a photograph, including a ruler to show the size of the specimen, and the size of the box in which the specimen is circulated.

These items are available on a first-come/first-served basis. Please check the catalog for availability by doing a keyword search using the name of the animal or bird exactly as it appears in the list. If the search produces too many hits, add keyword “realia”.

Furs, mounts, and skulls may be borrowed and returned Monday through Friday, except holidays, from 10 a.m. until 4:45 PM.
