SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS In order to view the report, your computer must have Adobe Acrobat or compatible software. You can download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Internet at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html A free reader is available for Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh, LINUX, IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, SGI IRIX, HP UX, Digital Unix, and OS2-Warp. Check the Adobe site for the most current release. Earlier versions of the reader do not support Javascript, so be sure you have the most current release installed. This report is also available online at: http://www.mms.gov/alaska/cproject/liberty/ IV. INSTRUCTIONS The best place to begin is with the introductory file, start_here.pdf. Load start_here into the Acrobat Reader. We have also created a navigation help file, help.pdf, that should prove useful. You can also open each volume of the EIS directly by loading the pdf file into the Adobe Acrobat reader. The Table of Contents, List of Tables, List of Figures and List of Maps are linked directly to the appropriate page in the document. Many references to tables, figures, and maps throughout the document are also directly linked to the appropriate page in Volumes III and IV. Click on the reference to activate the link. The Acrobat toolbar is located along the top of the Acrobat screen. Most of the icons in the tool bar are self-explanatory. The small arrow icons move forward or backward one page at a time. The bar-arrow icons (arrows with a vertical bar to their left or right) go to the first or last page in the file. The large arrow icon allows the user to go forward or backward to retrace the path through previous views. Text can be selected and copied from PDF files and pasted into other applications by using the text selection tool from the toolbar. Click on the button with "T" and a dotted line box and then drag over the text to be selected. All of the text in the Executive Summary and Volume I is searchable. Click on the Find Button (binocular icon), to use the search feature. Volumes II, III, IV and the supporting documents are a combination of text pdf files and scanned image files. Pages of text that have been scanned cannot be searched using the find button. If you open a PDF file from within an internet browser like Internet Explorer, keep in mind that the menu items at the top of the window pertain to Internet Explorer functions and not Adobe Acrobat functions. If you click on File - Print, File - Save or File - Find, you will not get the results you expect. To print, save, or search a PDF file, use the Acrobat Button Bar and not the Explorer Menu Bar!
