Summary: Meltwater from five glaciers in Norway were sampled for suspended sediment. Such sediments present hydrological problems for proposed hydroelectric power projects, as the meltwater will be stored in artificial reservoirs and then, in winter, tunnelled down to power-producing units. The sediments will vary over the year, sediments will settle in the reservoirs, and tunnel systems may be blocked by gravel and rocks.
